Japan blacklists 39 more Russian individuals, 73 firms

TOKYO, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- Japan has expanded its blacklists of Russian individuals and companies by freezing assets of 39 people and 73 organizations, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The blacklisted individuals include Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Goremykin, Alexander Kharichev and Boris Rapoport from the presidential administration, Director of the Main Computation Centre of the Armed Forces of Russia Robert Baranov, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s cousin Turpal-Ali Ibragimov, and President of small arms producer Kalashnikov Alan Lushnikov.

Japan also blacklisted Research and Production Association Kvant, Lakhta Park, Petrovsky Electromechanical Zavod Molot, Rostov Helicopter Production Complex, Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau, Baltic Shipyard, Admiralty Shipyards, Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, and many other engineering companies, shipyards, and design bureaus.

Tokyo also slapped sanctions on Rosbank, private military group Wagner and nine officials from the new Russian regions.

Since introduction of sanctions, Japan froze assets of 987 Russians, including people from the new regions and Crimea, 129 companies, and 12 banks. It banned exports to 357 companies and institutions connected to the Russian defense industry.

Tokyo banned exports of semiconductors, equipment for oil production, luxury items, quantum computers, 3D printers, and imports of gold, machine-tools, some types of timber, and vodka from Russia.
